What is your criteria for B-school selection?
I want to understand what is the most important criteria used by applicants in selecting a B-school. Please provide your inputs in the poll below. The poll will be closed in 6 days.
Update: As some of my readers rightly pointed out, there is no single criteria based on which you select a B-school. It is a mix of various parameters with varied importance. The objective of this poll is to get an idea what is the most important criteria in your selection. If you were to prepare a matrix to assign scores to each parameter, which parameter would get maximum weight.

There's no single strongest criteria to attending B-school... I like the idea, but a surveymonkey survey (free) with some more diverse results could be interesting!
For me it was a combination of having programs/professors inline with my passions/goals, a very strong brandname, and location. I decided not to apply to Wharton because they didn't have much in my area of interest, I didn't apply to Fuqua or Darden because I wanted to be in or near a big city and have that city feeling!
Everyone's reasons are different, fun poll though!
This poll should be multi optional with asking people to fill weightage to each of the parameters.. That would give correct measure..

I agree there is no single criteria for B-school selection. Ideally, if you want to evaluate objectively, it should be a matrix where you assign score to each parameter and then select the school which scores the max total. But again, there is some subjectivity involved. Have updated the post with the clarification, thanks for pointing out.
The purpose of this poll is just to understand which parameter would you give most importance to. Based on the poll results, I will analyze what goes in the minds of applicants before they enter B-school and face the reality. :)

I guess most of the people (in India) first look at the 'PLACEMENTS' section in an info brochure of a B-School. Because an MBA degree is seen as a path to a better package. Hence the majority of votes go to Placements.
However, in many cases (including me), if one keeps the placement factor out, we dont have any idea why we want to choose a paricular college.
Therefore, I think one needs to ask the question to oneself, 'Why MBA?' and if one gets the answer as 'Placements', then the person needs to ask 'What is MBA and can it really help me?'.

Above all these, when it comes to go through a competitive test like CAT or MAT to get admission in a reputed MBA college, an aspirant who has good experience of working in the corporate world; irrespective of their field it becomes easy for them to get through the though evaluation system with their aforementioned know-how about the administrative functions and operations.

There is no single factor behind a student's mind to choose a business school. The cost, reputation, placement facilities, hostel facilities, education environment etc, all these play a major role for a college to be chosen by any candidate.
Very Nice post.. And main thing are important is placement facilities, educational/ campus environment, Cost is consider while choosing B-school.
For sure... placement & salaries drawn are the most important criteria followed by cost, global rankings and so on. Thank you for putting across such a poll!
